To explain how to use the Live Demand plugin. As the name suggests, Live Demand shows what a given Display Group is measuring right now.
Live Demand in Plugin Menu
Instructions:
Click on the icon in the lower left corner of the MyEyedro page (this is the Plugin Menu). Select Live Demand.
Select the Display Group you wish to view from the dropdown menu.
Select the time interval you wish to view from the dropdown menu.
You can view historical data using the date picker.
Or by clicking on the aggregate graph.
The legend can be collapsed to view the graph in more detail.
The graph shows each sensor as a unique color, with the vertical scale being set by the highest measured Wattage reading of all shown sensors.
Hover the mouse over a sensor’s color in the graph to temporarily cause the other colors to dim and give more detailed information about that sensor’s readings.
Click and drag on the graph to zoom in on data for a closer look.
Click the sensors in the legend to turn them on or off in the graph.
The Legend displays the measured data of each sensor in a Display Group. Each sensor is represented by a color that is reflected in the main graph when individual sensors are displayed. If Aggregate is selected from the Options menu, then only one color will be displayed.
The button next to Options refreshes the data.
In the Options menu you can set data to display as Power (in Watts), Current (in Amps), Voltage (V), or Power Factor (PF).
In Options you can also turn the following on or off: Area Graph (whether or not the graph shows a line or is filled in below it), Time-of-Use bands (TOU rate setting only), Show Aggregate (whether or not the graph displays multiple sensors or all sensors in a display group as a single unit), Device Name in Legend (whether or not the Eyedro device’s name, set in Device Settings, is visible in the legend).
You can select either Auto graph scale or specify a Min and Max scale. See Customizing Live Demand for more details.
To explain how to set up your rate profile correctly in MyEyedro.
Things you will need:
your last electrical utility bill
the rate card from your electrical utility company.
Instructions:
Click on the gear menu in the top right of the MyEyedro screen next to your account name.
Select Rates.
You will have one rate profile auto created by default.
There will be several tabs you can select, but to start the tab you want is Bill Profile.
On the Bill Profile tab, starting with the General tab you can set the date, bill frequency, Rate Structure and Seasons.
Effective Date: if you know when your Utility last changed their Rate Profile, that is the date you need to set here, otherwise just use the start date of the bill you are using to fill in the details.
Bill Frequency: your bill will cover one of three billing periods, Monthly, Bi-Monthly, or Quarterly. Select the option that matches your Bill.
Rate Structure: your utility will have a specific rate structure. MyEyedro currently supports the following structures: Fixed, Tiered, Daily Tiered, and Time of Use.
Number of Seasons: your bill will have the number of seasons that your Utility uses, Time of Use often has Summer and Winter, and what month each season starts on, in this example May 1 and November 1. To edit when a season starts double click on the season you want to edit in the list.
The Rates tab of the Bill Profile will have tabs for each season. You will need to enter your rates information for each season.
Each Season will have two check boxes: enable Weekend-specific rates and enable Holiday-specific rates. If you get charged differently on weekends and holidays ensure these are checked. They are separated out so that if you have holiday rates but not weekend rates you can set this.
With both boxes checked there will be 3 tabs in each season, Weekdays, Weekends, and Holidays.
On Each of these tabs set the time bands, you do this by clicking the Add Time Band in the bottom left of the tab until the number of time bands matches the number on your utility bill.
To edit the time bands you have created, double click them in the list and set the name, the time the band starts, the time the band finishes, and the rate for the band. Do this until all 24 hours are covered.
Repeat this process for each of the seasons.
The final tab on Bill Profile is Other Fees. As the name suggests, these are the related fees such as tax, etc. that your utility company charges you.
The Apply other fees seasonallycheckbox is used if you get charged different fees in winter and summer (if your utility bill has a two-season billing profile).
The other checkboxes activate the various other fees. For e.g., if you have an Adjustment Factor on your bill, check the box and enter the percentage from your bill.
The Fixed Fees and Daily Fixed Fees are summation boxes. This means you need to add up all the fees on your utility bill that are applied per bill period for Fixed Fees and enter the amount in dollars into the box that appears when you check it off. The same applies to the per day fees if there are any. An example of Fixed Fees is the Distribution Service Charge $x.xx per month.
Variable Fees are any fees that are tied to how much power you consume that are not the cost of the power itself. They are measured in dollars per kWh. An example of Variable Fees is the Distribution Usage Charge $0.0xxx per kWh.
Adjustment Factor: if you sign up for a contract with an energy retailer, your contract might include a fixed percentage fee for the Global Adjustment cost, which all consumers are required to pay a share of. The Global Adjustment basically is the difference between the price electricity generators are guaranteed and what they earn in the wholesale marketplace.
Adjusted Variable Fees: if you sign up for a contract with an energy retailer, and your contract does not have a fixed percentage, it will have a per kWh fee to cover the Global Adjustment mentioned above.
Peak Demand Fees: Peak demand is usually only applicable to industrial consumers.
Peak Hour Fees: Peak Hours are also usually only applicable to industrial consumers.
Tax: this is where you put the total tax payed on your utility bill in percentage.
Rebate: if you have a rebate for your utility bill, usually from your local government, this is where you put the percentage value for it.
Next to the Bill Profile tab is the Utility tab which allows you to enter the name of your electric utility and their website. This is for record keeping purposes only.
The final tab in Rates is the Holidays tab. In order to have holiday rates applied, this is where you add all applicable statutory holidays.
To add a holiday, you click the “Add Holiday” button located in the lower left corner of the holidays list.
To edit a holiday, you need to double click it in the list, note that you will need to update the list annually as each holiday entered is for a specific year.
This post will explain how to set up a Tiered Rate Structure in My.Eyedro.com.
Note: if you have not read How To Set Up Your Rate Profile, read that post first as this post assumes you have already done so.
Instructions:
In the General tab of Bill Profile set rate structure to Tiered.
How tiered billing works – as you use electricity each billing period, your rates will increase after certain thresholds are reached. For example, Tier 1 will cover 0 to 1000 kWh with one per kWh fee, then from 1000 kWh to 2000 kWh will be the next tier with a different fee, and so on until the highest tier covers any other usage for the billing period.
To set your tiers correctly you will need the rates from your electrical utility.
Tier 1 ALWAYS starts at zero and goes to a set value. In this post we will use 1000 kWh for explanation purposes.
Tier 2 starts at the same value that Tier 1 ends on (in this example, 1000 kWh), and goes either to a set value or MAX, depending on if it is the top tier or not. To reiterate, Tier 2’s From value is the same as Tier 1’s To value.
My.Eyedro.com starts with three tiers by default. If your utility only has two tiers, click on the third one and click the Delete Tier button in the bottom right of the tab.
In My.Eyedro.com, to edit a tier you need to double click on it.
If your bill has multiple seasons, each season must be set up independently.
Once your tiers match the ones in your utility rates, you have set up the tiered part of your Rate Structure.
To explain how to configure Site Settings. Sites are collections of Display Groups that are located in the same physical location. Residential users will usually have only one Site (their home), while business and industrial users may have multiple Sites.
Sites in MyEyedro Main Menu
Instructions:
Click on the gears in the upper right corner of the My.Eyedro.com page.
Select Sites.
To edit an existing Site, select it from the list and click the “Edit this Site” button on the Site Info tab.
The Display Groups tab lists all Display Groups that are associated with this Site. In order to assign a Display Group to a Site, you must do so in the Device Settings Display Group options (from the main menu navigate to Devices, Display Groups).
The Bill Profiles tab lists all Bill Profiles associated with this Site.
The Sharing tab allows you to share all Display Groups associated with the Site with other My.Eyedro.com accounts. If the chosen account does not exist, the system will automatically create it. Sharing Sites and Display Groups allows other accounts to view the data and generate reports, but not edit or alter the Site or Display Group in any way.
To Add a new Site, click on the “Add Site” button in the lower left corner of the Sites list. By default My.Eyedro.com restricts the account to three sites.
To Remove an existing Site, click on the “Remove Site” button.
When editing an existing Site or adding a new one, click the “Save Changes” button to save your changes.
Likewise, to stop editing or adding and leave the edit pane without changing anything, click the “Cancel” button.
When finished with the Sites options, click the “Done” button to close the page and return to the plugin pages.
