Purpose of the App
The App is used to help provision supported Eyedro devices onto a Wi-Fi network. Depending on the device model and setup flow, the App may be used to:
- discover nearby Eyedro devices;
- display available Wi-Fi networks;
- allow the user to select or manually enter a Wi-Fi network name;
- allow the user to enter a Wi-Fi password;
- send Wi-Fi credentials to the selected Eyedro device;
- check provisioning, connection, or device status;
- display setup instructions, error messages, or troubleshooting information; and
- optionally open a local device dashboard or local configuration page where supported.
Information the App May Access or Process
The App may access or process the following information only as required to perform device setup and troubleshooting.
Wi-Fi Network Information
The App may display or process nearby Wi-Fi network names, signal strength, network security type, channel information, and other Wi-Fi scan results made available by the Android operating system.
The App may also process the Wi-Fi network name, also known as the SSID, that you select or manually enter during setup.
Wi-Fi Password
If you choose to provision a device, the App will allow you to enter the Wi-Fi password for the selected network. The Wi-Fi password is used only to configure the selected Eyedro device so that the device can attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
The App does not sell Wi-Fi passwords. The App is not intended to upload Wi-Fi passwords to Eyedro servers. Unless otherwise stated in a separate product-specific notice, Wi-Fi credentials are transmitted only to the selected Eyedro device as part of the local provisioning process.
Eyedro Device Information
The App may access or process information about nearby or connected Eyedro devices, such as:
- device name;
- device serial number or identifier;
- device generation or model information;
- local IP address;
- Wi-Fi connection status;
- provisioning status;
- firmware or device information returned by the device; and
- setup, diagnostic, or error status information.
This information is used to identify the selected device, complete setup, display device status, and help troubleshoot setup issues.
Mobile Device and Network Permissions
To perform Wi-Fi setup, the App may request Android permissions or use Android APIs related to Wi-Fi scanning, network state, nearby devices, Bluetooth, local network communication, internet access, or location-related access required by Android for Wi-Fi discovery.
Where Android requires location permission for Wi-Fi scanning or nearby network discovery, the App uses that permission only to support device discovery and Wi-Fi provisioning. The App does not use this permission to track your physical location, build a location history, or sell location information.
Local Network Communication
The App may communicate with Eyedro devices over a local Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or local network connection during setup. This may include sending setup commands, Wi-Fi credentials, device status requests, or provisioning checks.
The App is designed to communicate only with devices selected or configured by the user as part of the setup process.
Support Information You Voluntarily Provide
If you contact Eyedro for support, we may collect information you voluntarily provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, device serial number, screenshots, diagnostic information, logs, or a description of the issue. This information is used to respond to your request and provide support.
How We Use Information
Eyedro uses information accessed or processed by the App for the following purposes:
- to discover and identify Eyedro devices;
- to display available Wi-Fi networks;
- to provision an Eyedro device onto a Wi-Fi network;
- to verify whether provisioning was successful;
- to display device connection status;
- to troubleshoot setup or connection issues;
- to improve reliability, security, and user experience;
- to respond to support requests; and
- to meet legal, regulatory, security, or operational requirements.
Eyedro will not use personal information for purposes other than those identified in this Privacy Policy except with your consent or as permitted or required by law.
Information Sharing
Eyedro does not trade, rent, or sell your personal information.
Eyedro may disclose information only in limited circumstances, including:
- to service providers or contractors who help us operate, support, or improve our products and services;
- where required to provide support requested by you;
- where required or permitted by law, regulation, legal process, or lawful government request;
- to protect the security, rights, property, or safety of Eyedro, our users, our devices, or the public; or
- in connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of business assets, where permitted by applicable law.
Where Eyedro uses third-party service providers to process information on our behalf, we use contractual or other means to provide a comparable level of protection while the information is being processed.
Data Storage and Retention
The App is intended to process Wi-Fi provisioning information only as needed to complete setup. Wi-Fi passwords should not be retained by the App longer than necessary to complete the provisioning process.
Support information that you voluntarily provide may be retained for as long as necessary to respond to your request, maintain support records, meet legal or contractual obligations, improve services, and protect the security and integrity of Eyedro products and systems.
Eyedro retains personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, accounting, or reporting obligations.
Security Safeguards
Eyedro uses reasonable physical, organizational, and technological safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These safeguards may include restricted access, administrative controls, password protection, encryption where appropriate, and limiting access to personnel or service providers who require the information for authorized purposes.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Users should avoid sharing Wi-Fi credentials, device serial numbers, screenshots, logs, or support information with unauthorized parties.
User Consent and Control
You control whether to grant or deny Android permissions requested by the App. Some permissions may be required for the App to discover nearby devices, scan Wi-Fi networks, connect to a local Eyedro device, or complete provisioning. If you deny or later revoke required permissions, some features may not function.
You can manage app permissions through your Android device settings.
You may also choose not to complete the provisioning process, not to submit support information, or not to provide optional information. However, refusing or withdrawing certain permissions or information may prevent the App from completing device setup or providing support.
Children’s Privacy
The App is intended for use by adults or authorized users responsible for configuring Eyedro devices. The App is not directed to children and is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Deceptive Behavior, Misrepresentation, and Device or Network Abuse
The App is designed to perform only the functions described in this Privacy Policy and in the App’s user interface.
The App does not:
- impersonate another app, company, service, or device;
- misrepresent its purpose or functionality;
- collect personal or sensitive information for undisclosed purposes;
- sell personal or sensitive user data;
- use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, location, nearby device, or network permissions for unrelated purposes;
- access networks or devices without user action or authorization;
- interfere with, disrupt, damage, or misuse a user’s device, network, or other systems;
- install additional software without user knowledge; or
- hide, obscure, or misrepresent its behavior.
Eyedro Devices and Eyedro Services
After an Eyedro device is successfully connected to the internet, the device or related Eyedro services may transmit device data to Eyedro systems depending on the product, service, account configuration, and device functionality. Such data may include system events, measurement data, power consumption data, temperature data, diagnostic information, or other information described in Eyedro’s broader privacy policy and product documentation.
This App Privacy Policy applies specifically to the mobile Wi-Fi provisioning App. Other Eyedro websites, services, portals, products, and account features may be governed by additional privacy terms or notices.
Access, Correction, and Privacy Questions
You may contact Eyedro to request access to personal information about you that is in Eyedro’s custody or control, request correction of inaccurate information, ask questions about this Privacy Policy, or challenge Eyedro’s compliance with this Privacy Policy.
Requests should be submitted to the Eyedro Privacy Officer using the contact information above. Eyedro may require proof of identity before responding to a request and may refuse or limit access where permitted or required by law.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
Eyedro may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will make the updated Privacy Policy available through our website, the App, or other appropriate means. The “Effective Date” at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when this Privacy Policy was last updated.
